Exploring Studio One

by | Dec 31, 2016 | Exploring Studio One

Hello everyone,

I’d like to tell you about a new little project that I just started, which I’m pretty excited about.

For almost a decade I had been using Logic Pro as my main DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). Unfortunately as time went on, slowly but surely I had to come to terms with the fact that my Mac computer was getting old and needed replacing.
Even though other then it getting outdated, I had no complaints about my Mac, I decided to switch to PC.
I can already hear many of you thinking: “Why on earth would you, as a musician, trade in your Mac for a PC?!”
Well, I have to say it was a very tough decision. The biggest deciding factor was the financial aspect. Because, let’s face it, Mac computers aren’t exactly known for being the most affordable option.

Anyway, as you may know, unfortunately, Logic runs on Mac only, so as I made the decision to switch to PC, I had no other choice but to say goodbye to Logic Pro as my main DAW.
So thanks Logic Pro for almost a decade of great fun together; we’ll still be friends and we’ll still see each other every now and again, but I’m afraid I’ll have to move on now.

So but then the question arose: “What now?!” Which DAW could be a worthy replacement for my good old friend Logic?
I really didn’t know. So I did some research, I looked at my bank account, did some more research, looked at my bank account again and finally, after pondering over it for a while I decided to go with Studio One.

Studo OneAnd I have to say, after using it for a little while, so far I’m not disappointed.
The interface looks very modern and feels very smooth and intuitive, and most importantly, so far Studio One seems to be providing me with more than enough tools for me to do what I need to do.

One of the biggest drawbacks to switching from one DAW to another is the fact that I will have to learn a new computer program from scratch, which of course will get in the way of the process of music production itself.
But there’s also an upside, and that is the fact that I will learn a new computer program, and that’s very exciting!

Gathering information about Studio One, and gaining more experience with using it inspired me to share my findings with everyone. So I created a new playlist on my youtube channel, that is dedicated to exactly that, and I named it “Exploring Studio One”. The first video in this category has already been uploaded, so please check it out, and let me know what you think.
I hope these videos will help others in their endeavor to figure out Studio One.

Anyway, I’d like to wish you all a great day, and I will talk to you soon.
